Product Information
Mitel Networks 3300 Integrated Communications Platform (ICP) provides enterprises with a highly scalable, feature-rich communications system designed to support businesses from 30 to 30,000 users. The 3300 ICP provides enterprise IP-PBX capability with a range of embedded applications including voicemail, auto-attendant, ACD and 802.11b wireless gateway. Operating over virtually any LAN/WAN infrastructure, the 3300 ICP provides seamless IP networking allowing for full feature transparency within distributed environments. The 3300 ICP also supports networking standards such as Q.SIG and DPNSS allowing for tight integration with non-Mitel Networks PBXs.
The 3300 ICP supports over 500 telephony features with simplified Web-based system management. At the user level the 3300 ICP supports the industry's largest range of desktop devices including entry-level IP phones, Web-enabled IP appliances and full-duplex IP audio conference units. The 3300 ICP also supports a powerful suite of applications including multimedia collaboration, customer relationship management and unified messaging. Industry standard APIs (Application Programming Interface) are supported for extensive third-party applications through Mitel Networks Solutions Network (MISN).
Mitel Networks 3300 ICP provides:
Seamless IP Networking across multiple sites
Support for industry standard networking protocols such as Q.SIG and DPNSS
500+ telephony features
Embedded voicemail, auto-attendant, ACD, and 802.11b wireless gateway
Support for the broadest range of IP desktop
devices within the industry today
Web-based user interface that allows for easy programming of desktop phones
802.3af compliance for power over Ethernet
Support for touch-of-a-button, drag-and-drop video and audio conferencing
Industry standard APIs and support for third-party applications through Mitel Networks Solutions Network (MISN)
The 3300 ICP architecture supports Mitel's IP Plus approach to enterprise telephony; a switched IP core that is highly scaleable and delivers reliable, robust switching, routing, and call control – fully leveraging the power of IP – while encapsulating support for a traditional telephony (circuit switched) environment. This approach recognises the reality that traditional circuit switching infrastructures (e.g., the PSTN and legacy analogue/digital telephones) are not going to disappear overnight and thus need some form of optimised support in parallel with an IP core network.
The Mitel Networks IP Plus architecture has the advantage of natively switching all traffic. For IP device-to-IP-device communications (e.g. for calls between Ethernet IP phones), switching is provided via the enterprise's IP network: The Mitel Networks 3300 ICP provides call set-up, call clearance, and signalling between Ethernet IP phones.
For non-IP circuit communications, (as with a call between an analogue telephone and the PSTN, or between the PSTN and an off-board voicemail application), switching is handled natively via a conventional circuit-switched (TDM) bus. The ability to use two different switching techniques means that conversion (or gateway functionality) is only required between the IP and non-IP networks.
For ease of implementation and to provide efficiencies, an IP Plus system will package the traditional circuit-switched bus, call server, gateways, and real-time applications resources within the same cabinet. In Mitel Networks' architecture, this cabinet is called the Mitel Networks 3300 ICP controller. Within the controller, the same Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) that provide packeted voice gateway functionality is used for real-time voice applications such as speech recognition or voice-activated browsing.
The call control engine within Mitel Networks 3300 ICP builds upon Mitel Networks nearly 30 years of voice experience, migrating the system and desktop features forward into a packet switched delivery model. The system supports both traditional analogue trunks (Loop Start), and digital trunks (T1/D4, MSDN, XNet, PRI, R2, DASSII, DPNSS, Q.SIG, Euro ISDN and BRI), for connection to the PSTN or for connecting multiple sites or systems together (either as a private network or using XNet which delivers private network functionality over the PSTN).
